- In 2006, we published the first edition of our Legal Interpreter Training Guide. This Guide addresses many aspects of legal interpreting and provides extensive language-specific resources for interpreters of Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish languages.
- In 2008, we came out with a 2nd edition of the Guide including an expanded language-specific portion. Portuguese, Bosnian, Croatian, Romanian and Serbian versions were also added to the list of languages. Currently, we offer Legal and Medical Training guides and Linguistic Resources in 9 languages. - In 2008, we moved our training programs to a new medium and developed our innovative legal interpreter training program. We began to offer the same opportunity, quality and commitment to excellence in interpreter training to a much broader demographic by launching this program online in a multitude of languages. At this time, we offer our training in Albanian, Arabic, French, Haitian-Creole, Hmong, German, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese. - While our legal interpreter training program continues to grow, we’re also working on developing a comprehensive curriculum for healthcare interpreters. Throughout 2011, we will be launching several training programs for healthcare interpreters. Several Single-Topic units are already available and Basic and Advanced courses are coming very soon. These courses will meet the needs of the students whose ultimate goals are to prepare for a certification exam, meet CCHI and NBCMI eligibility requirements, develop interpretation techniques through language-specific training, expand their knowledge of the healthcare system, medical procedure, and other specialized terminology, and improve their performance as a healthcare interpreter. Our Healthcare Interpreter training courses will be offered in Albanian, Arabic, French, Haitian-Creole, Hmong, German, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

There are two types of certification exams for court interpreters in the U.S.: federal and state. Federal Court Interpreter Examination is offered only in Spanish, Navaho, and Haitian-Creole languages. See http://www.ncsconline.org/d_research/fcice_exam/index.htm for more information.
You should check with your State Court Administrative Office whether or not Court Interpreter Exam is offered in your state and in you language combination. Some states, such as California, developed their own examination system. Forty states are members of the Consortium for Language Access in the Courts. For more information, see

As you see, the exams are administered by independent bodies. The exam passing rate is from 3% to 13% of the candidates depending on the language. While taking the course will not give you the certification status automatically, it will help you to get ready for the exam, and, hopefully, be among 3-13% of the examinees who pass the exam successfully.

Our educational programs had been developed by a multidisciplinary team of language, legal and medical professionals. Experienced practicing interpreters with federal and state credentials and with extensive pedagogical and academic background created the course concept and curriculum as well as the Interpreter Ethics, Interpretation Theory and Interpretation Practice sections. The Legal Concepts and Criminal Procedure sections were written by legal professionals and the Special Topic section – by subject-matter specialists, for example by a firearm expert.
The courses are being taught by two instructors – language-neutral and language-specific. All our instructors are accomplished federally and state certified interpreters with proven interpreter training skills.

Interpreter Education Online (IEO) has been established by Bromberg & Associates, LLC, a full-range language service provider. The main goal of the program is to assist aspiring and practicing interpreters in improving their professional skills qualifications. Successful graduates are awarded a Certificate of Completion. The certificates are issued only to those students who work under the guidance of language-specific
instructors and demonstrate the improvement of their skills in measurable units. IEO courses have been approved for continuing education credits in
California and Pennsylvania and are listed as a resource by many other states that do not have CEU requirements for interpreters. IEO courses are also listed by the National Center for State Courts.

We are not an accredited institution. However, we have been approved as Continuing Education Units provider by several State Court Administration offices such as California, Pennsylvania, Nevada… Also. we are listed on the NAJIT and ATA websites.
At the end of the course, the students receive a Certificate of Completion. This certificate will show the curriculum of the course and your grades. This will be a proof that you received a comprehensive training to become a professional interpreter.
